Mood Board

Here is my Mood board for my groups opening title sequence...

The Genre of my Mood board goes with the theme and genre of the opening sequence - A horror/psychological thriller. The theme of the board is 'Everything below the surface'. this is shown through my use of the predominant colours of red and black which, are stereotypical colours of darkness and hell.

In the top left corner, we have a basement which is where the rituals take place and our main location in the sequence. We also have an upside down cross which represents the Anti-Christ and that's part of our theme. We also have Black Francis singing some lyrics out of the song 'Hey' there is more reference to the album it came from later. Lastly, the eyes are the main part of our opening sequence. They represent the eyes of the Satanic creature that is summoned by the ritualist in the sequence.

Now we have the right of the board. We have a girl in a white dress who is our main protagonist in the opening. She represents freedom and purity. Then we have the 3 horned goat which is the symbol of the satanic church, this is important because or main antagonist follows this church and its part of his lifestyle.

Here is the bottom right up close. We have the sub theme of 666, Route 666 is a sort of adaptation of 'Route 66.' It represents the long road from earth to hell and where the creature in the sequence travelled from. Once again we have lyrics from the Pixies. This time its from the song 'Monkey Gone to Heaven' as you can see, Black Francis mention 6 three times to emphasise the fact that 666 represents the devil.
Finally we have the bottom right corner, the corner with the most interest. First up we have a satanic artefact. (the gold goat) This represents the satanic items that the ritualist has set up in his basement and obviously it is a goat just live the beast that is idolised by the satanic church. We also have the album cover of the 1989 Pixies album 'Doolittle.' This is where the lyrics come from in previous paragraphs about the board. The album references surrealism, biblical violence, torture and death which is really what our sequence is about. The main antagonist being a very retro lad would listen to this kind of music because it matched his personality and hobbies. And finally we have the 3 headed wolf. This is a picture of the three headed wolf being summoned from a ritual. This is what we can imagine what the protagonists basement looks like when the creature is being summoned.

There are multiple references towards the narrative of our sequence. For example, we have the girl in the white dress who is our main antagonist. The ritualistic items which represents the ritual along with the basement which is the setting of the sequence and finally the develish eyes which is the main part of the sequence and the defining moment.
